Frequently Asked Questions

How do I prevent mildew, soap scum, and hard water?

Chemicals are bad for you, and worse, they don't really work. The best maintenance is preventative. Just wipe up the water. In conjunction, circulating the air with a fan, and ventilating the room with an exhaust fan are both helpful. Wiping the water away is the most important. It is a habit to get into, but it is ultimately less work over time and will significantly reduce the problems created by water: mildew, soap scum, and hard water deposits. 30 seconds a day, is 15 minutes a month which is much less than an hour or more per month to deep clean a scummy shower.

How long must I not use the shower?

We know you need your shower, so we try to minimize the downtime. Caulk takes ~18 hrs to fully cure, and basically the same for grout to be shower usable. At a bare minimum, do not shower on the day of your service, and leave it to dry until the morning after service. Stopping usage before and waiting longer after is even better if possible. The presence of water prevents all grout and caulk products from performing properly.

How soon can I walk on my floor?

If you have your bath or kitchen floor steam cleaned and color sealed, you can walk on the floor almost immediately. The sealer dries completely in 20 minutes. But wait 24hrs before cleaning it (Not that you'll need to since it was just deep cleaned!)

If you have it grouted, please wait a few hours until all the grout appears to be a uniform color indicating it is dry.

What if my floor is rebonded?

Grout can't be installed if tiles are loose. Rebond is a great solution for securing loose tiles on floors without removing them. Any broken grout is removed and the joints around the loose tiles are flooded with rebond adhesive which seeps underneath and hardens. The grout can then be installed without worry of future cracking. This process takes 2 days because rebond takes 24 hours to cure. One day to install the rebond. One day to install the grout. You may walk on the floor the entire time because of this method. We encourage you to walk on it because vibrations help the rebond seep deeper into the substrate increasing the chances of success. Then once the tiles are locked in place, there is no risk of the grout cracking again. Do avoid the areas for a few hours after the grout is installed, but ultimately the inconvenience is minimal.
